A structure used to state the main idea or argument; followed by a clause that explains the point.

Người Việt hay dịch 'ý là vì...' thành 'the point is because...' dẫn đến cấu trúc sai; thay vào đó dùng 'the point is that...' hoặc 'this is because...'.

Lỗi phổ biến là chọn 'to' vs 'that' tuỳ ý. 'The point to mention is that...' có thể dùng nhưng học viên hay lẫn lộn. Trong hầu hết bài viết học thuật, 'The point is that...' là an toàn và rõ ràng hơn.

Khi nói mục đích: 'the point of + V-ing / N'. Khi nêu luận điểm: 'the point (that) + S + V' hoặc 'the point is that + clause'. Tránh 'the point is because + clause' (cấu trúc sai hoặc lặp nghĩa).
Nhớ: 'point' = ý/chủ đề; nếu giới thiệu mệnh đề thì dùng 'the point is that...'.
